One Year Later - Look What God Has Done!

First time ever in a leprosy colony!

Your contribution will change lives for generations to come!

You can radically change the lives of 17 more in 2021!

Last year (2020) we launched our first VSLA group project in Ankaful leprosy community in Ghana, West Africa, in collaboration with Rural Focus Africa (RUFA).

A total of 3 groups (comprised of 30-35 individuals each) were trained in the VSLA model and will successfully complete the 1-year program in February 2021.

The group members have been able to save money throughout the year, and take out small loans to support themselves and their economic endeavors.

This has never been done before in any of the leper colonies in Ghana!

You can radically change the lives of 17 more in 2021!

Your contribution will change lives for generations to come!

You can radically change the lives of 17 more in 2021!

We are extremely excited to continue support for 17 of the most vulnerable individuals living in the Ankaful leprosy community starting on Jan 31, 2021, in honor of World Leprosy Day!

This new venture is open to lepers and their family members as the family members of people with leprosy are often discriminated against and face tremendous obstacles in securing employment. As a result, the whole community suffers,.

Listed below are 17 budding business owners with leprosy and/or their family members who are in urgent need of your support.

Your contribution will change lives for generations to come!

Your contribution will change lives for generations to come!

Your contribution will change lives for generations to come!

Our partners in Ghana (RUFA) will be providing coaching in entrepreneurship, business support, and advisory services to support the economic activities of each individual listed below, throughout the next year.

The money that each individual receives to establish or expand their business, will be paid back to RUFA by the individual, and then used to support another leper/family member through the Revolving Fund Scheme.

So each donation given, truly becomes the gift that keeps on giving!

Leprosy Won't Define Them!

The Social Stigma

Living with Dignity

The Social Stigma

image31

Even “cured” lepers, those who have completed the multi-drug therapy which treats the disease, are still very ostracized in Ghanaian society.  There is a huge social stigma present which often leads to complete isolation from mainstream society and feelings of extreme loneliness and despair. People who have been diagnosed with leprosy are generally rejected and abandoned by their families and left to fend for themselves.

Items to Sell

Living with Dignity

The Social Stigma

image32

In addition, it is often extremely challenging for individuals affected by leprosy to find ways to earn a living.  Many turn to begging on the streets to survive.  The micro-loan projects will provide opportunities for individuals to generate their own income by purchasing items such as a sewing machine and fabric to sew clothes or bags like the ones shown below, which may also be sold on the Surrender 365 website in the future.

Living with Dignity

In addition to providing a source of income for the individuals in the leper colonies, micro-loan projects also provide each person with an opportunity to regain their sense of self-dignity and self-worth, and to build their self-esteem.  It is our hope that by participating in the micro-loan pilot project, individuals with leprosy will begin to feel like they are valued members of society, rather than outcasts.

Community is Key

The Surrender 365 Inc. Team is also very excited to be able to support the spiritual, emotional, and physical well-being of people living with leprosy.  We will be sharing the love of Christ by offering a Christian retreat for the residents and staff of Weija Leprosarium in Accra, Ghana while we are there.  We will also facilitate a “Story Circle” at the Leprosarium, a space where people can share their stories and be heard, and listened to, with love.

This will provide a clean and safe source of water for all of the people living in these two colonies.
