Not one of us leaves childhood unscaved. Something happens and something changes us.
That something for me was rejection. In the 5th grade I was rejected by my white classmates for the color of my skin. That experience of rejection followed me for years. Whenever I considered doing something new my 10-year-old self would show up to tell me all the reasons why it was a very bad idea. Her fear tactics often worked and manifested in my behavior as mediocrity, following the status quo, procrastination, addictions and a low sense of self-worth.
On the exterior I was all put together. Honor roll student, college graduate, pretty, skinny, and nice. On the inside I was battling a war with an enemy that didn't want me to progress or live up to my highest potential.
Then one day in my 30s God brought the whole charade to a halt. He invited me to experience life in a whole new, authentic way. So began my journey of healing through surrender that I share with the world today.

Dr. Celeste Owens is a sought-after international speaker and facilitator whose mission is to equip women to live free and whole through the surrender of spirit, mind, and body. A transformative healer, she uses the word of God and psychological principles to bring women to total wellness.
Dr. Celeste and her husband, Andel co-founded Dr. Celeste Owens Ministries, an international healing ministry and travel the globe sharing the philosophy of surrender. They believe that when God is the center there is nothing one can’t do!
Celeste knows all about surrender and its ability to advance. In 2009, in what she calls an Abraham moment God called her to leave all that she knew -- private practice, public speaking, and ministry leadership. And in an act of radical obedience, she did. From that place of humility and surrender God birthed her first book The 40-Day Surrender Fast, a devotional designed to help the reader develop a more intimate relationship with God.
An accomplished scholar, Celeste holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Master of Science in Applied Counseling Psychology from the University of Baltimore and a Doctorate of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. She also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in trauma.
An 13-year Breast Cancer survivor, Celeste has personally experienced the advancing power of surrender. In 2010 she surrendered her diet to God and through the process of fasting adopted a clean-eating lifestyle. In fact, her personal battle with cancer inspired her to become a Certified Natural Health Professional. Now this once self-proclaimed “junk-food-junkie” is thriving post cancer and inspires others to do the same.
Dr. Celeste has graced many pulpits and presented at numerous conferences and retreats. She has been featured in Essence, Heart and Soul Magazines the Washington Post and a television guest for various networks. She’s also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
God has provided an opportunity for Celeste to meet both the spiritual and physical needs of the poor through their nonprofit organization, Surrender 365, Inc. the mission’s arm of Dr. Celeste Owens Ministries. Surrender 365, Inc. focuses on meeting the needs of the marginalized around the world.
Surrender is what Celeste does. She will continue to encourage others wherever she may go to do God’s Will—His Way—All the Time!
